报告内容摘要:
Taiwan is an island having a population about 22.6 million and an area about 36,000 Kilometer square, on which two-third of area are covered with high mountains. There are more than 100 mountains higher than 3000 meters. On such a small and mountainous island with such a large population, it is extremely difficult to develop renewable energy, most of them are of low-power-density (in terms of power/area).
This presentation consists of two themes: The first one is Taiwan Energy Situation, in which we will describe briefly Taiwan's energy situation, which is, in fact, quite severe. The second one is regarding the potential solutions. We proposed four projects to resolve the difficult situations, i.e. the low-carbon power supply, the clean-coal technology, the Kuroshio power plant, and the methane hydrate exploration.
We reach the following conclusions:
1. Taiwan’s Energy and GHG emission situation can be greatly improved by the four projects proposed.
2. There are three options of low-carbon power supply structures can meet the global CO2-emission target (3.1ton/p-y) and the Taiwan power requirement (47KWh/p-d) by 2030.
3. The CCS technology is crucial to improve Taiwan’s CO2-emission situation. Without CCS, the nuclear power shall be the sole substitute.
4. The Kuroshio power at east-Taiwan and the methane hydrate reserve at south-west Taiwan offer promising opportunities to increase the energy security of the country.
