    Antibody is a large Y-shaped protein used by the immune system to identify and neutralize foreign objects like bacteria and viruses. The development of antibody drug has evolved over the past decade into a mainstay of therapeutic options for patients, especially with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases as well as cancers. Substantial advances in understanding the biology of human diseases have been made and tremendous benefit to patients has been gained with the first generation of therapeutic antibodies. Here I will discuss with you about the basics of antibody, including its structure, function and diversity. Furthermore, I will discuss about its application as therapeutic drug and the newer antibody engineering technologies used in industry for the generation of antibody therapeutics.
