讲座题目:Micro/nanotechnology for the Development of Electrochemical Energy

报告人:Prof. Feng-Yuan Zhang

时 间:6月30日(周四)下午2:00-3:00
地 点:方正大厦301会议室
主持人王健平教授

报告内容摘要
Electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems, including fuel cells, batteries, novel eletrolyzers, and associated hybrid systems,   have become more attractive due to their high efficiency and minimal environmental impact.  By combining them with other renewable energy resources such as solar, wind and water energy, they may provide sustainable solutions for energy challenges.  However, the performance and durability of such electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems are significantly influenced by the micro-/nano-scale design, structures, and characteristics of their components and interfacial effects. The rapid development of micro/nanotechnology has enabled the development of a novel component with improved thermal and electrical conductivity, more precisely controlled mass transport, and better permeability. Nano-scale molecular monolayer and surface treatment, micro-scale design/fabrication/integration, and advanced layer deposition will be introduced. Reaction enhancement and performance evaluation will also be discussed.

报告人简介
Dr. Zhang’s research has focused on development of high-efficiency, sustainable and clean energy systems with micro/nanotechnology, ranging from fundamental understanding to system development of fuel cells, batteries, high-efficiency pulse combustion engines, electrical thrusters, and hybrid energy systems. He has also established a strong expertise in the micro-/nano-scale design, fabrication, and characterization of thermal/fluid, surface, material, optical, and electrical properties, and in the development of advanced spectroscopy. Dr. Zhang has acquired extensive research and teaching experience at several institutions including UTK, Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), UD, PSU, UCLA, Stanford University, and Nagoya University. Dr. Zhang is the author of over 60 publications, 2 book chapters and 2 patents. Two of his publications earned the “most cited paper” recognition and one of them won the 1st place prize. He also served as Track Chair and Session Chair in International Conferences on Energy Sustainability and Technology, respectively.
