报告内容摘要:
Human body injuries can be seen in falls, motor vehicle accidents, impact causing events such as sports and various recreational activities, as well as battle field injuries. Nerve (brain and peripheral nerve) and musculoskeletal injuries are common in these incidents. Understanding human tissue tolerance to injury is critical in injury prevention. Biomechanical studies plays an important role in injury prediction, injury evaluation, and protection device designing. Biomechanical methods measure the catastrophic tissue injury such as tissue tears via camera and load cell transducer directly; neurophysiologic techniques determine the mechanical threshold such as strain and stress that potentially causes tissue damage or actually cause subtle tissue damage via monitoring nociceptor activity when the appearance of the tissue is still intact. In this seminar, injury neurophysiologic techniques are introduced, including waveform recognition and template matching methods for nociceptor activation in joint capsule and compound action potential conduction for nerve injury. The obtained experimental data are essential to the establishment of finite element (FE) model for injury prediction and protection device design improvement.
