报告内容摘要:
Pulmonary alveoli are small air sacs at the ends of bronchioles where gas exchange occurs. While gas exchange is crucial for sustaining life, there is no consensus on the dynamic structure of alveoli during respiration due to the lack of methods for fast visualization of alveoli in vivo. A rapid, high-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) system is developed in our lab and used to visualize subpleural alveolar dynamics of living swine during mechanical ventilation. This study provides important information that potentially helps us develop proper mathematical models and ventilation strategies.
报告人简介:
Dr. Huan Ma is a research fellow at Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). His current research interests include biomedical optics and optical coherence tomography. Dr. Ma is a PKU alumnus with BS degree in physics. He received his PhD degree from University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Physics, where his research focused on Fourier transform spectrometer, free electron laser, and hyperspectral remote sensing. He worked as a postdoctoral scholar at University of California, Irvine, between 2008 and 2012. During this period, his research focused on laser microbeam applications in large molecules delivery into single cells and cell sorting. Dr. Ma started working as a research fellow at MGH from October 2012. At MGH, he works in Dr. Tearney's group and his projects include high resolution OCT and alveolar imaging.
