报告内容摘要

The author workshop will cover three parts of academic writing that are important to every author who has published or would like to publish on international academic journals. The first section covers the importance of getting ready before the actual preparation of a paper, followed by the structure of a paper and requirements of each section of the article structure, as well the proper language used in academic writing. The second section will focus on Open Access: what is Open Access, how to publish Open Access and funding body agreements regarding Open Access. Last but not the least, the third topic is all about publishing ethics, including how to define an author of a paper, how to avoid misconduct in authorship and impact of authorship disputes. Plagiarism, as a often occurred problem of publishing ethics, will also be discussed.

Laney Zhou (周灵妮)

Laney currently works at Elsevier as Executive Publisher responsible for a list of journals in mechanical engineering. Before this role she was Head of content development in Elsevier’s Beijing office, followed by a management associate opportunity in the headquarters of Elsevier in Amsterdam. She’s currently based in Elsevier’s Oxford office. Her experience before Elsevier includes in-house Editor of an English medical journal and Manager of a copy-editing team.Laney holds a Master’s Degree in public health from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
