报告内容摘要:

NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) has been conceived for reservoir characterization shortly after its discovery in 1950s, however is only becoming widely used since 1990s. In this presentation, I'll talk about operational challenges of NMR measurement in the oilfield, where the instrument is routinely conveyed 5 kilometers underground, with 500 atm pressure and 200 degC temperature. I'll also introduce petrophysical answer products that NMR can provide and the research activities in the center, focusing on sensor miniaturization and unconventional NMR probe design.

报告人简介:

Yiqiao earned his bachelor degree in physics at Peking University in 2007 and PhD from the department of physics at Harvard University in 2012.  In school, he published papers on molecular spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance and energy policy in journals such as Physical Review Letters and the Science Magazine. Upon graduation, he joined Schlumbeger, an oil-field service company, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a field engineer for one year and half. In early 2015, he returned to Boston as a scientist at Schlumberger-Doll Research. His current research interests include miniaturized downhole sensor, GPU-accelerated mobile computing, and NMR study of rock textures.
