报告内容摘要:
In this lecture series, I will identify the different components and processes in water cycle and resources that can be observed with in-situ and satellite observations and their modeling and predictions using numerical models and data assimilation. I will also point out some ideas and future opportunities in earth observation of water resources. The content will be based on our recent research activities, projects and lecturing with some focus on land-atmosphere interactions as far as hydrometeorological processes are concerned.
报告人简介:
Professor Dr. Zhongbo (Bob) Su is Professor of Spatial Hydrology and Water Resources Management, and Chairman of Department of Water Resources in Faculty of Geo-Information and Earth Observation (ITC) of University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands.
Professor Bob Su is a recognized international expert in earth observation of water cycle. His current research focuses on remote sensing and numerical modeling of land surface processes and interactions with the atmosphere, earth observation of water cycle and applications in climate and ecosystem and water resources studies, and monitoring food security and water-related disasters.
He obtained BSc at Taiyuan University of Technology in China, his MSc at IHE in Delft, the Netherlands, his PhD in Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany, did his postdoc research in University of Ghent, Belgium and has spent sabbatical and academic visits in the US and China and given lectures and invited keynotes in many international conferences and has coordinated and participated in many international experiments.
He served as a member of the International Scientific Steering Committee of the HYdrological cycle in the Mediterranean EXperiment (ISSC HyMeX). He was Netherlands representative to the intergovernmental ad hoc Group on Earth Observation (GEO) charged to develop a 10 year implementation plan for integrated global Earth Observation. He was the chair of sub-division of Remote Sensing and Data Assimilation of European Geosciences Union (EGU) and is a member of the Hydrology Section Technical Committee of American Geophysical Union (AGU). Bob Su was also an member of the Earth Science Advisory Committee (ESAC) of the European Space Agency (a 12-member senior advisory body to advise the director of earth observation for satellite mission selections and earth sciences) and served as the chair of land panel in the recent Earth Explorer 8 selection. He was appointed as a member of the science evaluation panel for the Earth Observation Envelope Programme of ESA to evaluate its 1490 million EURO EOEP-3 programme 2008-2012 (A 8-member body lead by Dr. G. Asar, director of World Climate Research Programme). Recently, he was elected vice president of the International Commission on Remote Sensing of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).
