美国地质学会会士(Fellow)。历任美国南加州大学Marshall讲席正教授(终身制),俄克拉荷马大学石油和地质工程系米勒讲席正教授(终身制),2138cn太阳集团古天乐能源与资源工程系首任系主任,美国著名拉萨拉莫斯(Los Alamos)国家实验室高级研究员。为地下水文学、非常规油气开采(煤层气、页岩气)、二氧化碳地质埋藏方面的国际著名学者,其随机理论建模、数值计算、历史拟合方面的研究成果已被国际同行广泛采用。著有专著两本,其中在2002年出版的《渗流随机理论》(美国学术出版社)已成为领域内的经典著作;发表学术论文180余篇(其中,SCI论文150多篇)。先后担任权威性杂志《水资源研究》、《国际石油工程师杂志》等七种国际学术杂志副主编。作特邀学术报告80余次、发起并组织国际学术会议20余次。曾担任英国国家研究理事会“能源研究评估委员会”委员、美国国家研究委员会“地球科学2010-2020科研规划委员会”委员、《国际石油工程师杂志》CO2地下封存专缉主编、达沃斯世界经济论坛(WEF)“全球议程理事会”理事以及北京京西国际学校校董(2014-2016)。
